So, am I to under stand the vehicle idles and runs fine when the engine is cold?
Also, what size engine is in the vehicle, is it the 3.4 litre V-6 or the 3.8 litre V-6, also; does the speedometer still function, if it doesn't, and the vehicle has difficulty accelerating this might indicate a faulty vehicle speed sensor. Can be replaced easily enough if you can safely get underneath the vehicle, should be located on the passenger side of the transmission where the CV axle connects.

As much information to the symptoms of the problem will better serve in more fully determining the problem, since readers of your comment are not actually at the vehicle; you need to serve as their eyes, ears, nose, when describing the problem, this will go along way in more accurately arriving at a reliable conclusion.

Post a clarification of your question based on my follow up questions as well as any other details you think prudent and I will try and post a more accurate answer.
