what makes humans spiritual or religious?

From what I have been told Humans are the only animals on the planet with a soul. I don't know how we know this, but that is what I have been told. I do know that animals do most things by instinct and the humans think about what they do before doing it (most of the time)

I'm not sure the soul has been located, but in a study a few years ago, it was found that there is actually an area in the brain that seems to be reserved for the spiritual. When you get into the spiritual and/or religious, it's pretty hard to find facts.
