by far it is hands down NASCAR, that is OVERALL, for ads, T.V., salery, promotional sales, ETC. I can try to get the exact numbers that you want, If you could be specific on the type of revenue, your interested in, IE; marketing, advertising, toys, products, ETC.
But just overall, they say hands down, Nascar brings the most revenue from/for all, such as; promotional {bobbleheads, toys, collectables, ETC}, advertising {T.V.ads newspapers, radio ETC.} ticket sales, If you need more exact numbers, let me know what the exact revenue market you are interested in
Remember the above is what i found when i researched "REVENUE"
however others might say i am way "off base" but make sure that when they look into it, they are looking at REVENUE!!! wich is money brought in to or from different secters..
understand they might find different numbers if they were to ask about popularity, becouse of number of tickets sold per event, that can be hard to do, becouse like baseball {MLB} plays on average 162 games per year, football {NFL} plays on average 16 games per year, and nascar has; Sprint Cup-36 races
Nationwide Series-35 races
Craftsman Truck Series-25 races.
So make sure that they are looking into revenue for what forumn they are looking for,
The NFL currently receives 2.2 billion dollars a year in television revenue, which amounts to 73 million per year per team
MLB currently receives 340 million dollars per year in television revenue, which is divided up among the teams in a formula so complicated that you need understand quantum-physics and theoretical mathematics just to gain a rudimentary understanding of the distribution structure.
And nascar;, the below is for the 2007 season; International Speedway Corp. has released the expected 2007 industry revenue from the new television contract NASCAR signed last December with Fox, ABC/ESPN, TNT and Speed.
The revenue for 2007 is estimated at $473 million for Nextel Cup races, $29 million for Busch races and $3 million for Craftsman Truck Series events.
The average increase for each season will be approximately 3 percent through 2014.
While the total package of the contract represents an estimated 40 percent increase over the average of the current contract, the actual revenues for 2007 will be less than 2006 because 2007 is the first year of a new deal. The total television revenue of $505 million for 2007 is about $70 million less than the estimated revenue for 2006.
Beginning next season, Fox will have the first 13 races, followed by six on TNT and then 17 on ESPN/ABC. The ESPN/ABC family will have all of the Busch Series (with most being telecast on ESPN2) while Speed will carry all of the Craftsman Truck Series as well as the Gatorade Duels qualifying races at Daytona and the Nextel All-Star Challenge.
UNDERSTAND This is strictly for telivision revenue, the above that i said has all sectors in one, like i said, telivision, newspaper, radio, toys, books, ETC.ETC. there are many many many different depertments that generate revenue,, with that said, like i said, from what i found on the WEB, nascar generates by far more revenue if you combine all revenue into one, becouse for example, the large majority of the NFL revenue is from telivision revenue, and the MLB big market is radio, where Nascar has a ton on both of them depertments,
hope this also clarifies some things, for the people that say i am wrong, lol that say NFL is more, they have to understand, while they sre very very popular, each team plays only 16 games per year....
i'm sure lots will have lots to say, so good luck, and hope this help clarify my answers!!!
