why wont my 2004 nissan altima start even when i put a new battery in

i have a 2004 nissan altima 2.4 i put a new battery in it but some days it just does not want to start but it cranks really hard like it wants to. what could it be

Starter could be going out if its the altinatore ur battery would be drained and ur car wouldn't try to crank
