i accidently put 20W-50 oil in my jeep, will that harm the engine?

You probably didn't cause any significant damage by doing that. It's best to use the recommended oil for your vehicle. Check the owner's manual to see the manufacturer's recommendations based on the vehicle's milage and typical outdoor temperatures in your area.
